Key Largo

Key Largo

This was our first RV destination for the winter season of 2013 going to 2014. We were still RVing newbies! Here we were welcomed as part of the community of yearly snowbirds and they endearingly nicknamed us “The Kids”. We had many fun times with the folks at Kings Kamp Marina and there was a point where we had to learn to behave since we still had to keep to our responsibilities the next day and do our jobs. They were all characters and are so happy that we were able to share our favorite spot with Denny’s Family now and they get to still enjoy it going forward.

Where we stayed:  Kings Kamp

Time of the Year:  December- March

There are a lot of good restaurants with a great view and yummy seafood, but best of all are the happy hours!

  • The Big Chill & Tiki Bar
  • Bayside Grille & Sunset Bar
  • Fish Market
  • Pilot House
  • Snapper’s Oceanfront
  • Sundowners
  • Mrs Macs Kitchen
  • Hideout Restaurant

Of course, there were many more restaurants and bars we visited over the course of 3 winter seasons in Key Largo.. but these were the ones that stuck! <3

Additional Info:

At first, we didn’t fully rely on cellular data so we paid for a 3 month deal with Comcast for full entertainment and Wifi at Kings Kamp!

But …

Kayak Trip to Indian Key, FL

Paddling to Indian Key Historic State Park was educational, relaxing and a nice workout.  It wasn’t the most calm or sunny day as we wanted it to be, but before we start counting down the weekends we have left in the keys we decided to go ahead and do it anyways. (Photo above was the nice spot we found off US …

First I decided to visit the historic and World Famous “Caribbean Club”. It was developed and built by auto parts and real estate promoter Carl Graham Fisher in 1938 as a fishing club for …

Kayaking through John Pennekamp’s Trails

What a perfect day to go kayak and explore John Pennekamp’s  2.5 miles of marked mangrove wilderness trails! These are some of the sights from Sunday’s kayaking adventure 🙂 We were probably out there for about 2 and half hours.. such a beautiful day in the Keys!       The water was so clear! and our path through the mangroves became tight …
